Blitz Chess Battle Recap – Smokey Brisket Edition!
What an incredible evening of fast-paced chess and great vibes! We gathered in the Fountain Courtyard under the fairy lights for our first ever ClashOTB Blitz Chess Battle at The Smokey Brisket.
This wasn’t your usual chess social night — it was a ClashOTB test event, designed to see how well the new system performs in real-time — and it delivered beautifully!
The format was pure speed and stamina:
⚡ Each player had 5 minutes per game
♟ You could play as many games as possible in two hours
🚫 You couldn’t play the same opponent twice in a row
🏆 The player with the most points at the end took the win!
Everyone loved the format — it was dynamic, social, and kept the games flowing all evening. Players pushed to fit in as many matches as they could, tracking their scores live through the ClashOTB app. Seeing your name appear on the real-time leaderboard added a whole new layer of excitement and motivation!
Our top 3 finishers were:

🥈 Joseph Chakabwa – 6 points from 8 games
🥉 Gary – 5 points from 9 games
A bunch of new players joined in, and several bystanders couldn’t resist grabbing a seat to play a few games — even one of the Smokey Brisket staff members joined the fun! Many of the newcomers promised to bring their friends next week, so we’re hoping to double the numbers soon.
The food was absolutely amazing, the staff super friendly, and the atmosphere electric. A big thank you to everyone who came out — it was a fantastic night of chess, laughter, and innovation.
