Triggerfish Tuesday – Revenge, Resignations & Reluctant Outdoor Chess

This past Triggerfish Tuesday, Naomi and Sven arrived bright and early-ish (which, for Naomi, is basically sunrise).

Naomi was immediately delighted to spot last week’s rival… there was a score to settle. Unfortunately for her, he arrived in absolute peak form and wasted no time crushing her straight out of the opening with some particularly evil tactics.

Game two looked far more promising… balanced position, solid play…
and then he hung his queen.

He resigned instantly.
Naomi is still not entirely convinced that was necessary… or legal… or real.

Meanwhile, Alex and Sven were deep in one of their trademark sessions — part game, part lecture, part philosophical debate about chess and life — when Henry arrived.

Sven immediately lit up.
Fresh opponent. New challenge. Pretoria energy.

Henry stepped up — and to his credit, lasted more than 10 minutes, which at this point is basically a badge of honour. Respect was earned. Survival was… temporary.

Then Charlie arrived — but found himself opponent-less for a moment. Naturally, Sven solved this problem by sending Alex to “go torture him.”

Alex accepted the mission enthusiastically… while loudly complaining about being forced to play outside.

Charlie, however, did not budge.
The nicotine addiction remains undefeated.

The game that followed was surprisingly intense. Charlie even had a completely winning move at one point… which Alex kindly pointed out after he missed it.

Charlie also claimed — very loudly — that he only started losing once Naomi came to watch. Suspicious, but noted.

In the end, Alex didn’t just win…
he completely destroyed Charlie, both on the board and in the commentary.

😆 Summary

  • 🌅 Naomi arrived early. This was noted.
  • 💀 Revenge attempt: denied in the opening.
  • 👑 Mysterious queen blunder → immediate resignation → ongoing suspicion.
  • 🧠 Sven tested new challenger Henry (survival time: respectable).
  • 🚬 Charlie refused to move. As always.
  • 🎯 Alex accepted his mission: torture Charlie.
  • 😂 Victory + cheeky commentary = complete domination.

Lesson of the evening:
If Sven assigns Alex to you…
it’s already too late. ♟️😆
