♟️ Triggerfish Tuesday #6 – Calm Starts, Epic Finishes
Triggerfish Tuesday started off deceptively calm. Clive was there bright and early — which he soon regretted after agreeing to a “warmup” match with Sven (a mistake he won’t repeat).
Michael took a little longer to warm up — Naomi left him with Charlie for a gentle start, only to return from placing an order to find Dennis in his spot. As expected, Dennis was already in full attack mode, and Charlie was sweating like it was a job interview.
Yi then faced off against Naomi, who blundered everything in sight and happily handed the board over to someone more deserving of the seat.
That’s when Tebogo — a new face the club met at the market a while back — arrived and immediately proved to be a serious contender. His match against Frederik turned into a tactical marathon that drew the crowd’s attention (and a few gasps).
Meanwhile, Sven was practically salivating at the thought of playing this promising newcomer. When he finally got his chance, the room went silent — the kind of silence that only happens when both players are calculating doom.
Then it started. The muttering. The commentary. The overanalysis.
Sven, suddenly more talkative than ever, was clearly reaching for any advantage.
Naomi looked up mid-chat and called out,
“Hey! I have copyright on using talking as a strategy!”
Sven didn’t bite — he was too busy trying to survive.
The tension peaked. Draw offers were whispered. Tebogo admitted he wouldn’t mind one — he was exhausted from the high-level slugfest.
In the end, Sven had only a king, and Tebogo had a king and a pawn. The final move hit — stalemate.
The crowd erupted. Easily the most epic Triggerfish battle in recent memory.
Sven immediately wanted a rematch…
but the staff were already locking up, turning off lights, and sweeping under the tables.
“Maybe next week,” someone called.
“Yeah,” Sven muttered, still staring at the board,
“Next week.”
😆 Summary
- ☕ Calm start. Deceptive peace.

- 👀 Michael’s gentle warmup got hijacked by Dennis.
- 💁 Naomi blundered, outsourced her game, and lived happily ever after.
- ♟️ Tebogo arrived, destroyed expectations, and almost everyone else.
- 🧠 Sven met his match — talked, calculated, begged for draws.
- 🔥 King vs. King + Pawn = Stalemate of Legends.

Moral of the story:
Never trust a “quiet” Tuesday. They always end with sweat, stalemates, and Sven plotting revenge. 😎♟️
