Chess Takes Over Triggerfish Market – Sunday, 21 September

This past Sunday, Triggerfish Market was buzzing in a way vendors didn’t see coming. What’s usually a laid-back weekend market turned into a full-on chess festival as parents, kids, and curious passers-by crowded around the boards for a day of pure fun. Live music set the tone with an easy groove, while the sound of clocks clicking and cheers from each checkmate added to the energy.

Market vendors were amazed at the sudden surge of visitors. Families who came for a casual stroll found themselves caught up in the excitement, many lingering to watch or join in. Our Helderberg chess crew proved that the game is very much alive in the area—so much so that plenty of newcomers signed up for future club events on the spot.
